Piscataway NJ Fishing Derby needs your support. June 6th
PISCATAWAY FISHING DERBY, INC. 155 Summers Ave. Piscataway, NJ 08854 Non-Profit Tax ID # 36-4608192 Hello Friend. The Piscataway Fishing Derby Committee is gearing up again for the annual FREE Children's Fishing Derby held at the pond in Johnson Park. Because this annual event has become so popular, the 58th Annual Derby Day will be held extended for 2 extra hours again on Saturday, June 6 from 9 AM until 2 PM so more children and their families can enjoy the fun. The Piscataway Fishing Derby Committee, a Non-Profit volunteer organization works year round holding several events meeting our mission of educating, teaching and promoting safe, responsible, and enjoyable outdoor fun for the whole family. Last year over 439 children, ages 3-13 and their families enjoyed Derby Day and over 800 participated in programs throughout the year and we continue to grow. This year we've been designated and certified by the National Park & Rec. Association as one of only 30 cities in the country to be designated a "Casting Community". This distinct honor gives us National recognition and proves to the rest of the country that we here in Piscataway take our recreation and our youth seriously. Due to budget cuts the NJ Fish & Wildlife Commission no longer provides us with free fish to stock the pond. The strained economy has affected us all and now more than ever we rely on support from friends like you. Your tax deductible donations are used exclusively toward keeping the Derby FREE. We are counting on you to make this year's Children's Fishing Derby another memorable event for our young anglers and our community and show the rest of the country we mean business! Please help us make this another fantastic year for the Piscataway Children's Fishing Derby. We recognize all of our sponsors and encourage participants and their families to support them. Please include, along with your donation, a company banner, letterhead, or advertising medium that we can display at the Derby. Also if you or any of your staff would like to participate as a volunteer during the Derby, we welcome the help. To send donations or for more information, please contact Glenn or Deena Miller at 732-752-3380, via mail at 155 Summers Ave., Piscataway, NJ 08854, or by email at Deena_Linx@Hotmail.com. Thank you in advance. Thank you Deena for your information.

DNR Says Weather, Conditions Good For Fishing
State wildlife officials said this might be a good weekend for ice fishing. The Department of Natural Resources said the recent spell of warmer temperatures might have caused snowmobile trails to deteriorate, but ice depths on most lakes are still about 12 to 16 inches.
